Antonio Lucas

Antonio (“Tony”) M. Lucas, age 70, passed away from cancer on November 12, 2022. Tony was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the U.S. with his parents after the Cuban revolution. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Estrada Lucas and Sheila Vincenta Bóveda and his dear friend Fred King, Jr. He is survived by his fiancée and companion of 23 years, Susan Domangue, his sisters, Anna Lucas Maggio (Michael), Alicia Lucas Pereira (Michael), his nephews, Christopher, Stephen and Nicholas Maggio; Adrian Pereira; a great nephew Talan Maggio; and his godson, Kristian Rogers. He grew up in Puerto Rico, but attended Cranwell Boarding School in Lenox, Massachusetts, and moved to New Orleans to major in architecture at Tulane University. Tony became a professional photographer and entrepreneur, founding Lucas Exhibits & Graphics in New Orleans. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved snow skiing, fishing, horseback riding, camping, and of course, fútbol. He was game for any adventure in any country, could speak four languages and was fearless in the pursuit of his endeavors. Goaded by his friend of many years, Fred King, Jr., together they marched in the cold morning of Buddy Diliberto’s “Super Bowl When Pigs Fly Parade” in dresses. He was blessed with an infectious laugh and smile which everyone found contagious. Tony was a kind, intelligent gentleman, who was generous and kind to all people and animals. He will be sorely missed by his all of family, friends, pets and his extended family of cousins of Cuban-American descent from Florida, New York, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee and California. Special thanks to Charles Barbier, R.N. of Heart of Hospice and oncologist, Dr. Thomas Atkinson who gave Tony comfort in his decline from Lymphoma.
