Dennis Earl Olden Sr

Dennis Earl Olden Sr. was born September 23, 1952, in Buras, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully at home in Bourg, Louisiana, on July 24, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Debra Martin Olden; three children- Dennis (Denny) Olden Jr. (Jill); Kacie Olden-Woods (Cory); and Travis Olden (Tabitha); ten grandchildren- Hunter (Yicel), River, Nicholas, Drew, and Beau Olden; Louie and Charlie Woods; Grace, Noah, and Emma Olden and one great-granddaughter - Ada Olden; siblings- Kenneth (Red) Olden Jr. and Tammy Temple (Rocky). He also leaves behind extended family, including brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who were dear to him, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Olden Sr. and Earlynn Beadle Olden, and his brother Douglas Olden. Dennis was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was well-known as a man of physical strength and determination. He was an active person who loved working in his yard and garden. He was a man of many talents. He always had a project in progress and enjoyed woodworking, home improvements, and helping others. There was never a project too big or too small that he didn’t see through to completion. Dennis was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and crabbing. He also enjoyed playing and watching golf, football, and basketball. He lived his life to the fullest. Dennis was a driven man, giving his all in everything he pursued. He had a large heart and generous spirit. He was a larger than life character who was loved by his friends and family. Dennis was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on May 29, 1965, and read his Bible everyday. He spoke about Jehovah God to his family and to all whom he met. He was confident in the Bible’s promise that through Jesus’ ransom sacrifice there will be a future paradise earth where the dead will be resurrected and the righteous will live forever. The Bible book of Job 14:14-15 says, “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service until my relief comes. You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.” The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mary Bird Perkins, Terrebonne General Health System, Hope Hospice, and Warriors of Hope. On Saturday, August 9 at 2:00 pm, there will be a memorial talk at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1830 Prospect Boulevard, Houma, Louisiana.
