Harry Hill Jr

Monday, July 7, 2025, at 9:50 AM, Mr. Harry Hill, Jr., affectionately known as “Squally,” was called into eternal glory at the age of 54. Harry was born to the late Harry Hill Sr. and the late Joycelyn Marie Verrett in New Orleans, LA. He grew up in the Lower Ninth Ward area of New Orleans and attended Alfred Lawless Senior High School. After leaving high school, Harry began his career as an auto mechanic at C & O Transmission until he suffered an unfortunate hand injury in the summer of 1994. He then transitioned to truck driving, where he traveled across the U.S. and created wonderful memories. Harry met Denise Williams, at his cousin’s birthday party on June 8, 1991. This was when he became an instant father to two-year-old Ashley Butler. He and Denise later welcomed their daughter, the apple of his eye, Danielle Blair, on February 15, 1993. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Harry relocated to Amarillo, TX, where he married Fanti’ Hill on August 8, 2008. Through this union, he gained two sons, Markeen Block and Mala’Ty Lewis. “Squally” was one of the most selfless human beings on Earth. He consistently went out of his way to help anyone in need. His loving spirit touched not only his family and friends but even strangers. On May 14, 2019, God bestowed upon him the greatest gift of all: his beautiful granddaughter, Bailynn Marie Blair. From the moment he met her, he was transformed and dedicated himself to becoming the best grandpa ever. Harry is survived by his daughters, Danielle Blair (Arandy) and Ashley Butler (Laron); his loving former spouse Fanti’ Hill; his sons, Markeen Block and Mala’Ty Lewis; and his grandchildren: A’mya Williams-Smith, Ta’Niya James, Kenneth Butler, M’Kai Block, Logan Butler, Bailynn Blair, and Laron Butler Jr. He is also survived by his sisters, Crystal Harris (Anthony) and Acquella “Kelly” Brown; his brother, Anderson “Andy” Hill; his godsister, Roxanne Taylor-Williams (Joseph); his godbrother, Darrell Robinson; his oldest living aunt, Caffie Solomon; his oldest living uncle, Oliver “Cooney” Hill; and his favorite cousins, Larry Jones, Derrick Jones, and Michael Verrett, along with a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends. If you knew “Squally,” you would know that he always went out of his way to help others. For this reason, his life was truly meaningful and not in vain.
