Revelation 14: 13 OBITUARY On Monday, February 10, 2023, at the age of 71. God gracefully called Michael Franklin's name and carried his soul to rest with Him. Michael was born on August 7, 1951, to the union of the late Isaiah Franklin Jr. and Alberta J. Franklin. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Earl Green of Second Baptist Church. Michael was a native of Lower Algiers “Cut-Off.” He received his education from L.B. Landry Senior High School, and he was VERY PROUD to be a part of the Class of 1969 and would PROUDLY sport the beautiful colors Blue and Gold. Michael attended Southern University and A&M College as well as SUNO where he studied Psychology. Michael traveled with The Upper Room missionary team spreading good news of the Savior and God’s word. Michael studied music and loved to sing. He also loved to douse himself with cologne leaving his family coughing. He enjoyed traveling, music, cleaning, cooking, hosting and LOVED Talking and Debating. Michael would often share time with Bishop Marvin Johnson, Sr., Cynthia Riley Sullen, Leroy Franklin, Ernestine Johnson and Travis Johnson, Sr. He was employed with Cliff’s Seafood after traveling to Connecticut to work as a construction worker until he was seriously injured. On November 26, 1994, Michael and Pamela Kelly were united in matrimony and to this union Johannah Michelle Franklin was born. He relocated to Alexandria, La., for a few years Post Katrina. During this time he was recognized in “The Town Talk” newspaper for risking his life while helping other residents get to higher ground as well as feeding and aiding them. Later in life Michael relocated to New York for over nine years. Due to his failing health, he returned home to spend time with his family, especially his daughter. Michael was the Proud Father of: Johannah Michelle Franklin Williams Arvie (John Arvie). Brother of: Alberta C. Taylor, Carolyn F. Ross, Isaiah Franklin III, Stacy Franklin (Maxie), Dwayne Franklin Sr. (Sheronda) and Bridgette Franklin. Brother-in-law: Frank Stemley, Sr. Godfather of: Suzette Ross Williams and Kuane Washington. Uncle of: 21 nephews and nieces, 41 great nephews and nieces, 36 great-great nephews and nieces, 3 great-great-great nieces, and a host of cousins and other relatives. Lifelong friends of: Minister Earl Williams, Malcolm “Pogo” Washington and Ron Atkinson. Michael was preceded in death by; Parents: Isaiah, Jr. and Alberta J.
